Is there such a thing as free traffic for a link?

The question is there such a thing as free traffic for a link? We need to ask ourselves who gives any website free traffic? Is if from other sites or do we get it from Goolge?

Getting a link (backlink) from another website, especially from an authority site can help you to rank higher in search engines((serp) but it is one of a subset of other necessary steps you will need to take before Google can send you free traffic to your website.
Therefore, your website must be optimized by Google’s standard.
This process is commonly referred to as search engine optimization (seo).
Let us look at some Google seo guidelines.

Meta tags:
1.Title
Make sure the title is a keyword or phrase that people on the internet has type into google or other search engine to get an answer. You will attempt to answer that question. However, each keywords needs to be qualified, meaning how many monthly searches it get. Has the keywords been answered by websites are showing up in the top 10 on Google front page? The best keywords are long tailed keywords. Keywords or phrases that are too short- get used a lot and becomes competitive to use for a new website, this is because most authority sites are already using them. 2.Description:

In the header section of your site you must describe what your site is about. It cannot be random, these keywords must be niche specific. Suppose your website is about cooking but you want to focus on baking, then you should mention the various baking categories in the description. This will help the search engine to better understand what your website is all about.

3.Headings
You need to break up your post by adding heading and sub heading. Why is this important? Here is quote taken from https://www.poynter.org/educators-students/2017/4-guidelines-for-writing-seo-friendly-headlines/
Headlines are lifelines to our readers. They grab attention, build trust and help time-pressed consumers focus on the stories they care most about.

They link readers with our content, giving us a chance to reach our audience across a sea of information. Headlines also help search engines decide whether our offerings match what users are looking for. Most search queries are two to four words long and consist of proper names and keywords. The best headlines will match the most common relevant search queries. "

4.Keywords Tags
When you are writing a post you should have a bunch of other closely related keywords on the subject, these are called tags. Some of these related keywords could be used for your various heading or subheading in paragraphs. Add all of them in the tag section of your post.

5.Original content
Even if a subject is already written about extensively, try and write it in your own words. Google will penalized a website if it copy word for word from another website, that will not rank, even it has backlinks to it.  Remember to get higher ranking make to publish content with at least 1,000 words.
6.Links
Internal:
Many people wonder what are internal links on a website? Here is an Internal links definition. These are pages that you linked to from inside your own website. So how do you make an internal link? Well, let’s say you write two articles on how to bake a chocolate cookie and the same for a raisin brand cookie. When you are done writing each one you can use the link button to connect these two blog posts. Each articles has its own web address. Just highlight or hover on the name of the other cookie in each post and then the select the link icon to link them together.

External Link

External link definition is as follows. This is when you want to reference a specific website or an article, or an image on another website. Before you link out to another website you need to  determine if this link is a 'dofollow or 'nofollow link.  They are viewed differently in google ranking. The moment you decide to the link to another website, most website text editing software will ask you if the hyperlink is a dofollow or nofollow link, and wants to know if the external link show open in a new window.

Backlinks

Backlinks and seo.  A backlink is when someone comes to your website reads an article and liked so much they decide to tell others about by mentioning or linking to it in a post that they publish on the worldwide web. It is like you get a thumbs up for the post or information that you have written on your website.

This considered a powerful ranking factor in Google eyes.  To them it is viewed as a recommendation from on website to another.  Google spiders views these backlinks as a vote of confidence, because another website finds your content informative and instructive. As a result of this will over time  your website will starts to get increased traffic to your website.  The spiders now consider your content valuable to other users on the web.

A word of caution though, some website owners becomes desperate about getting their page rank higher in Google that they will ask for backlinks from anyone on the web and may also use robots to help increase their ranking.
